Underbelly is very excited to be hosting the finals for the First Ever Gram Parsons Guitar Pull Songwriting Contest!

2013 Official Rules and Entry Form

Safe at Home Productions Inc., in association with Jacksonville venue, Underbelly, is proud to present the Annual Gram Parsons Guitar Pull Songwriting Contest. This international, Americana-oriented songwriting contest is held in conjunction with the Annual Gram Parsons Guitar Pull and Tribute Festival, held in Gram’s hometown of Waycross, Georgia. This year’s festival dates are Sept 20-22, 2013. Waycross is located in Southeast Georgia.

Songs should represent the spirit of Gram Parsons’s music. Songs must be original and should be copyrighted at time of entry.

The contest will open on June 1, 2013.

Submissions may be posted on the Annual Gram Parsons Guitar Pull and Tribute Festival Facebook page.

Judging: Entries will be judged on originality, melody, lyrics, rhythm, and relevance to the criteria. Entries will not be judged on production or performance. Professional songwriters, publishers, or other music industry professionals will judge all contest entries. All decisions by judges will be final.

– Ten finalists will be selected to perform at Underbelly in Jacksonville, Florida on Sept 18, 2013.

– The contest will open on June 1, 2013. Deadline for submission is Aug 31, 2013.

The winner of the Underbelly performance will be invited to perform at the Annual Gram Parsons Guitar Pull and Tribute Festival on Sat. Sept 21, 2013.

All finalists will receive one Weekend Pass to the Annual Gram Parsons Guitar Pull and Tribute Festival Sept. 20-22, 2013 at the Okefenokee Fairgrounds in Waycross, Georgia.

Eligibility: The Gram Parsons Guitar Pull Songwriting Contest is open to amateur songwriters. For the purposes of this contest, an amateur songwriter is defined as someone who doesn’t have a song which has been commercially released, nor is represented by professional management as a songwriter.

Song submission releases Safe at Home Productions Inc. and Underbelly from product and all other liability and allows Safe at Home Productions Inc., and Underbelly, the use of winners’ names, song titles, lyrics, addresses and emails for contest promotional purposes and to provide to our sponsors, without further compensation to the winner.

Winners and Prizes: The first place winner will receive an invitation to perform 3 fifteen-minute sets on the side stage at the 2013 Gram Parsons Guitar Pull and Tribute Festival in Waycross, Georgia on Sat. Sept 21 at 9pm, 10pm, and 11pm.

Free admission with one guest to the festival.

Free artist badge/lanyard.

The winner will be expected to perform their songs live, without the aid of recorded backup. Winners will be responsible for their own transportation and lodging.
