Event Description: Jacksonville's River City Eco Fest & Challenge
Jacksonville, FL – The River City Eco Foundation announced today that Jacksonville's River City Eco Fest & Challenge will be returning for its third consecutive year on May 17, 2014. The event drew upwards of 1,000 patrons in its inaugural year at Friendship Fountain. We are now prepared to host upwards of 3,000 attendees with the addition of a music festival and outdoor-recreation and wellness expo at our new home at Metropolitan Park, located in downtown Jacksonville along the banks of the St. Johns River. The event’s nucleus is the six-mile paddle sports race along the river. Racers will launch from the Metropolitan Park Marina, round historic Exchange Club Park Island, located under the Mathews Bridge, and paddle back.
Following the race, local outfitters, retailers, eco-tour businesses and nonprofit organizations will join together with local and regional artisans as well as other relevant eco-friendly vendors in an effort to showcase what Jacksonville has to offer both tourists and locals alike. The day will also include a kids’ zone and food truck expo. A full day of live music will feature Roadkill Ghost Choir, Toubab Krewe, The Mobros, The Whetherman Band, The Parker Urban Band, Lance Neely, This Frontier Needs Heroes, and more.
