Event Description: Okay Y'all, Two things :)> *1st ~ Yours truly, Captain Jack Schultz, WFCF 88.5FM Flagler College Radio's Sunday Evening Blues Cruise DeeJay and Ancient City Blues Society president will be hosting the Johnny's Blues Jam along with Reggie and the rest of the BluesDaddies from Daytona tonite, this Wednesday, since Chance Gardner has other obligations tonite. I hope all the members, previous jammers and friends of the Ancient City Blues Society will reunite and converge tonite on 01/23/2013 and every Wednesday, starting at 8:30 pm to 11:30pm @ Johnny's Restaurant 3009 N. Ponce De Leon Blvd. in St Augustine, FL (904)829-8333. It's just one block north of Hwy. 16 on U.S. 1. *2nd ~ I've been helping some of our Veterans in need recently, and have run into some snags and deadends, sOOOoo I've decided to start a group called "Voices for Veterans of St. Augustine". My hope is that it will become a grassroots organization that can provide help to veterans when they need it, without them having to go thru all the bureaucratic redtape bullshit. It will be intended to give practical, actual help to those who served us; and our country, so that we could have and keep the freedoms that we are able to enjoy everyday. The first imprompteau meeting of Voices for Vets will be tonite at the blues jam at Johnny's. Please if you can, bring any canned goods or non-refrigerated food items so that we can start the vets food pantry. We will also soon be accepting other items needed to improve our veterans way of life, such as clothing, blankets, personal grooming items, building supplies, cash, services, and your time. I will also be hoping to network with caring persons who have some remodeling and maintenance skills or the desire and moxy to help fix vets homes that are in need of repair.
My first project will be to help Vietnam vet Jesse Sumner, who survived being shot down in a chopper. Jesse is disabled, still dealing with the effects of a stroke back in 1997 and recently broke a hip from falling off his bicycle. He is in dire need of work on his 10 foot by 14 foot home. Yeah … you read that right, his home is the same size as a storage shed and not much better either. He needs carpet, carpet pad, insulation, drywall, a couple windows, decent door, and a twin bed to improve his standard of living. I can provide the labor on his home if I can obtain the materials. My wish is to give back to those who sacrificed, I for one can be counted on to stand up for our vets ~ How about you?
So come on down to the jam and let's make a difference in somebody's life. We can lift our voices and extend a helping hand at the same time! A full musical backline is provided and a FULL BAR and GOOD FOOD is served ALL night during the jam! Bring your guitar, bass, harmonicas, sax or your fave instrument (and a can or two of food, if able) and jam or just bring yourself and come on down and listen to some honest homemade music with us! Hope Ta' See Ya' There! ~ Capt. Jack
