The Oarsman is the acoustic project of Marcus Christopher Maloney, formerly of Honest Engines and Many Places. Maloney wrote and recorded the band’s first EP, Easel, on an iPhone during a post-breakup roadtrip – and it was the first time he ever used his singing voice. After stops at Daytrotter and NPR’s “The Morning Shift”, Maloney recorded an LP at his home studio, Ethnomusikology. The songs are honest and sad, the vocals sweet and pure, and the guitar playing musical.
