Halloween 2016: Terror in the Swamp

Deep down in the swamp is a secret place few dare to go. A place of miracles and madness. A place of dark rituals, where even the dead are rumored to walk again. Horrible Children and Katalyst invite to experience a night in the bayou, where the Voodoo Queen rules, and there is some new horror around every corner. Can you survive the bloody mayhem, or will you fall victim to the: TERROR IN THE SWAMP: A VOODOO HALLOWEEN Featuring: K-HAND (Techno/House)Acacia Records/TripDetroit, MI Don’t think of K-Hand as just another Detroit-based producer, or DJ. Think of her instead as one of the city’s best, as bold as that thought may seem. An internationally recognized veteran of the legendary Techno City’s bottomless talent pool, Hand stands alongside Detroit’s elite, the sort of DJ that has devoted more than two decades to working crowds into techno dance frenzy. There’s no denying Hand’s role as a globetrotting DJ who never fails to further Detroit’s undisputed legacy. It takes years and years to acquire the sort of versatility that Hand has become known for. Whether it is a lengthy set at Movement Detroit Music Festival, or a headlining gig at a high-profile, Hand knows how to read a crowd and seduce it, one track after another, until she has it at her mercy, and the dance floor dances. Just as well versed in techno (via her Detroit fostering) as house (via her days in Paradise Garage-era New York), Hand offers the best of both worlds — few DJs can weave back and forth with such precision. If her legacy as one of Detroit’s most experienced DJs wasn’t enough, Hand’s production work never fails to garner her respect and attention. She is perhaps most widely known as the brains and boss behind the long-running Acacia Records Label, one of the city’s most prolific labels throughout the ‘90s into the ‘00s, and to date. In addition to her countless 12” vinyl releases, and WAVs on the AcaciaRecordings.com & K-HANDmusic.com website, she continues to garner critical acclaim year after year. In sum, with the current devotion to the electronic music scene, there is little that Hand hasn’t accomplished, explaining her in-demand status as a Professional DJ, and Music composer. With the latest and hottest music coming out of Detroit on Acacia , continuous vinyl releases , and Nina Kraviz’s Label трип Mubali-Live PA (Psytrance)Parvati RecordsSan Diego, CA Mubali is the musical project of Greg Farley. He came from a classical music background, due to playing viola for 9 years in school, as well as a funk and soul upbringing. He has been involved in electronic music as a whole since 2000, after being converted to the Dj culture by Burning Man and Dj Dice. After a short stint of being a Drum and Bass Dj, he was enticed into the land of psychedelic trance. During a heated discussion with Ocelot, Mubali expressed his displeasure of the direction the music was going and thought that nothing coming out really represented what he really felt inside. This led to 5 words that changed his viewpoint forever, “Do it yourself then dammit!” From that point Mubali dedicated himself to learning production and trying to express what was inside of him. That was August 2003. Since then, Mubali has performed on stages all around the world and at many festivals, including Boom Festival and Full Moon Festival. He has 2 album releases on Trishula Records, a free album released on Ektoplazm Records and countless solo and collaborative works on many labels. His style can be described as sometimes funky and bouncy, sometime chunky and nasty, but always psychedelic. Mubali is also working on an EP for Parvati Records that will showcase the knowledge he has acquired in his path to education as well as his commitment to making music that has goodies for the head, the ass, and the soul. Shade K (Breaks)Diablo Loco/Danger Sound RecordsSeville, Spain Shade K has been smashing the beatport top 100 for years! Recently hitting multiple #1’s including his collab Against the Grain with BBK! He is half the glitch hop group, Royal Blood, who has dominated the glitch hop scene for over 2 years as the #1 group. This guy is only 23 years old and expect very big things! This is his first USA tour with long friend BBK Matt K (Techno)DJMATTK.COM / Omerta Music Group (USA, Holland) / Planet Rhythmn (UK.) The undisputed king of the modern southeastern techno movement and creator of the world recognized genre of dance music labeled Gangsta-Tech by his fans and peers, the fusion of methodically syncopated bass driven techno and hip hop. Hailing from Atlanta, Matt K took up the champion sound of house and techno and began spinning in 2001, red shirting in his studio for 2 years before detonating the Atlanta dance scene in 2003 with a more punishing sound than had previously been available in the southeast. These events helped pioneer the new generation of hard-edged events that had been eluding the Atlanta scene for so long. By the end of the year, Matt K had not only become recognized by his astonishing live sets but had become an underground mix tape legend, refusing to release anything even remotely substandard. It was in 2004 that Matt K began headlining abroad, given the opportunity to play at prestigious events in places like Ibiza and London. During his travels he discovered the true power of the global clubbing populace, traveling from packed dance floor to packed dance floor, hearing absolute mayhem being pounded through the speakers. Upon returning, Matt K focused all his attention on production, using the ideas he saw being implemented in European clubs to create the finalized direction of his Techno sound. He used these avenues of creativity to master the unforgettable “Under the Gun” mix CD, which featured his first ever, released tracks distributed by Glitch Recordings (U.K.). The releases immediately netted airplay on such formats as the notorious BBC Radio 1 and the resulting hype helped to push Matt K through his second, more extensive, world tour, a tour that would find him headlining with some of the most respected DJs in the world. During this tour Matt K found the balance between his version of Techno and the hard pounding European style of Germany and London. His sets now sliced the pie of Detroit down the center: finding the middle ground in the bass and the kick. Still focusing his attention solely on defining his own Techno sound, the next few years found Matt K releasing a slew of records on such labels as Planet Rhythm (U.K.), Submissions (Holland), and beginning his own imprint in 2006: Omerta Music Group (USA). These records have defined his genre of music as one of the most impressive and infectious sounds to come from the Detroit school of thought. His DIY approach helped fuel not only his own label, but in 2007 he founded the booking agency Niytrus Management based out of Atlanta, as well as his own clothing company entitled 8mm Clothing, with its designs and styles catering to the images and ideas associated with his Techno individualism. To date, Matt K the mogul currently continues his global tours year in and year out representing a stylized vision of bass heavy, floor burning energy. Matt’s career spans 17 years of DJing, 12 years of production, worldwide headlining tours, his own record label, artist agency, and clothing line. His sound is instantly recognizable as the pitch perfect combination of violent hip hop overtones and crushing techno groove represented through an artistry that traces his deep Atlanta roots. His performances resonate a tone of professionalism, stagemanship, and unbridled aggression that sits at the epicenter of a dance-first philosophy to techno based music.
