Jax Kids Mural Festival

We invite you to our first ever Kids Mural Festival here in Jacksonville! We are so excited to collaborate with Yoga 4 Change on this event in Hemming Park on Saturday, April 2 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. What to expect:There will be three mural walls for your children to come and paint! Think of it as a giant coloring book that will be designed by local and visiting artists and muralists from all over the country. There will be live music, music lessons for kids, a skateboarding demo along with a skateboarding clinic for the kids provided by our friends at Instaramp, yoga classes for you AND your children, t-shirty tye dying, food trucks, and so much more! What is this project all about?Jax Kid's Mural Festival is a project funded by the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville's SPARK Grant program 2016 which included a sponsorship from Florida Blue! This project is a quarterly gathering of the children, teens, and families of our community during which the children will all work together to paint murals themed to unite and activate our community mind, body, and soul. Each event will be held in a different location within the SPARK District of Downtown Jacksonville. For each event there will be three walls set up that stand 8 feet tall and stretch 20 feet wide. On each wall I and some of my fellow artists will paint a coloring-book style image which the kids will then "color in" with paint! Each wall will have it's own theme, and will be different every event! Each wall is also available for sponsorship. When you sponsor a wall you, your business, or your organization is then able to dictate what exactly the design of the wall will be before the kids paint it. It may be your logo and website, your slogan, something you want desinged in house, or something you leave up to us to desing. When your wall is complete after the festival you have the option of keeping it and putting it on desplay in your office or donating it to a local school for them to display around their campus. For more information about sponsorship please send us a message so we can send you our sponsorhip information package! The idea for this project comes from my project for One Spark 2015 "Murals for Jacksonville's Youth and Beyond". The goal for that project was to use the money to paint murals in all of Jacksonville's Schools with the intention of brightening the education experience for our students. My slogan during One Spark was, and still is, "Creativity inspires confidence". These three words, each powerful in their own right, combine to create an impactful and compelling statement. Creativity and self expression are immensely important to a child's development as they enable children to discover themselves, to unlock that THING within them that sets them apart from the rest, to achieve a sense of self, an identity, a reason for existing! With this sense of self a child achieves confidence, a necessary quality in achieving success in any endeavor. A confident child is more likely to go out and meet new people, go new places, and experience new things. These new experiences all lead to growth and development in an individual. These individuals, with confidence will grow to be unique, forward-thinking, and intelligent people that have much more to contribute to the community. After working with the Jacksonville Parks and Rec Department in their 2015 summer program Summer Night Lights I realized how much a project like this could benefit the children in our community. Not only will we be hosting these festivals in the SPARK District, but we will be taking it to the schools here in our city. When we rasie enough money ($300 per school) We will go out and set up a mural for the students to complete and the school will then be able to keep and display around their campus. We call this our outreach program, and we hope to one day bring our mural project to every school here in Jacksonville! I love this city, and I want to be a part of its growth and development. This is how I believe that I can help. Thank you for your support! For instagram users you can find me at @nicosuavalicious, and follow our project page at @jaxkidsmuralfestival.
